Abstract

This study aims to analyze the various opportunities, challenges, and strategies related to the adoption and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the management and development of mosques. It employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method, focusing on a comprehensive literature review. The sources analyzed include scholarly journals, books, articles, research reports, and previous studies relevant to the application of AI in religious institutions, particularly mosques. Through thematic analysis, this research identifies the potential, obstacles, and strategic approaches to implementing AI in mosque management. The findings indicate that AI has significant potential to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and quality of mosque services. AI can be utilized to streamline financial management, improve congregational services, design data-driven da’wah initiatives, and optimize human resource management. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, resistance to change, and ethical concerns, especially in aligning with Islamic values, require thoughtful and well-guided strategies. These strategies include formulating clear policies, providing training for mosque administrators, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders and technology developers. As a recommendation, mosque administrators are encouraged to prepare adequate infrastructure and develop transparent AI usage policies aligned with Islamic principles. Support from policymakers is also essential to establish an ethical and sustainable framework for technology integration. Further research is needed to explore additional AI applications within the mosque context and to examine their long-term impacts on the spirituality, social dynamics, and cultural aspects of congregants.
